Her skills and true passion lie in production. Working up the ranks from a features researcher she obtained a thorough ‘strong old school’ foundation, from highly respected and skilled directors at ITV, where she started out over 10 years ago.
Producing her first programme for broadcast, at 22 (a 5 minute film on Christian Surfers) she has built up her skills presenting, writing, directing, shooting and now developing ideas for broadcast. Jessie has written for theatre, television and radio (ITV, BBC, Ch4 , SKY ). At the beginning of 2008 she travelled to Taiwan, shooting the ‘Passions of Girls Aloud’ for ITV with ‘red head’ band member Nicola Roberts.
In 2008 Jessie was commissioned by the BBC to write a programme that would make classical music appealing to children. Jessie wrote, performed and even ‘sang the theme tune’ to the new Cbeebies music programme ‘Ratatata’.
‘Ratatata’
With a little cheeky musical note character called ‘Quaver’, instruments are introduced to pre-school children in obscure and original ways, with the audience enticed on a musical adventure. They scoop up ‘nuggets’ of musical knowledge along the journey and are lead towards the end of the programme with a specially selected and well known classical piece, that is always performed in a fantastical setting that will transport imaginative young listeners.
“Where Mickey Mouse in Fantasia left off…. ‘Ratatata’ picks up”.
Inspired by trips to Cornwall and a holiday through New Zealand and the Cook Islands, ‘Ratatata’ is placed in a wondrous, natural history and entertaining setting.
